daniel dembowy (PADI rescue diver)

Daniel has been diving since he was 10 years old, and knew immediately that it was his passion. His love for the ocean inspired him to learn photography, which he uses to bring the underwater world to people who do not dive. His goal is to document the beauty of the ocean so people can help save it. Daniel’s favorite place to dive in the park is the Lopez Pontoon, as he loves to admire the life the structure brings. Its massive size creates an entire ecosystem for the park, full of interesting animal behaviors and unique creatures. Daniel is always on the hunt for the illusive shaggy mouse nudibranch, which is rare to spot. Daniel’s interests also include the Seattle Seahawks, running cross country, watching movies, playing saxophone and creating new songs and tunes. He attends Inglemoor High School and enjoys his science classes. During Daniel’s surface intervals you might catch him eating pizza or Top Pot Doughnuts.

Favorite park species: Shaggy mouse nudibranch

PADI specialties: Dry Suit, Enriched Air, Boat, Underwater Photographer, Edmonds Underwater Park Diver

Favorite Edmonds Underwater Park memory: Taking his first photos of the shaggy mouse nudibranch

Dream career: Currently figuring our how to incorporate scuba diving into a business plan

I speak up for the ocean because it doesn’t have a voice. If we ignore the signs the ocean is giving us, and continue thinking solely of our own species, we risk losing the others that make our world so unique.
